Be Happy, Feel Beautiful

Booting Up For Fall

When putting together an outfit—the shoes can totally make or break it. A simple dress can be turned classy by throwing on a pair of heels, or simplified by slipping on a pair of comfy flats. But with fall, slowly but surely, approaching it’s time to start putting away the summery shoe favourites: sandals and flip flops, and start shopping for this season’s choice shoe-panion: the boot. Feeling a bit unsure what’s in for fall foot fashion, or maybe just looking out for a fun new way to look cute in your boots? Well, my dear belles, look no further and get ready for a quick 101 on the super chic, fashionable, fall boot.

The Ankle Boot

Looking for something more than the standard high heel, but not bulky like the customary boot? Then an ankle boot is certainly the way to go. With the ability to be dressed up or down, flat or heeled, ankle boots are great for your crazy day-to-day life.

How to wear it:

If you’re tall, ankle boots will definitely flatter you! This is because, even though your legs are what seem to be, a mile high, you can basically pair these boots with just about anything. However, a word of advice: avoid long skirts that show very little legs between the tops of your shoes and the bottom of the skirt.

If your shorter, don’t worry, you, too can wear ankle boots! Just make sure you avoid long skirts with ankle boots—you’ll look squat. Instead, pair your ankle boots with tights and a skirt that reaches anywhere shorter than your knees.

Either way, make sure you watch your proportions! Ankle boots can look awkward with fuller lines up top (full skirts and boyfriend jeans for example), so use these shoes to help showcase your legs. Think leggings, tights, skinny jeans, short skirts and dresses!

The Mid-Calf Boot

What usually first springs to mind with the word boot is the fashionable, to-the-knee look that appears year after year during fall and winter. It’s a classic look that can work with just about any outfit. Really, how could you ask for more than that?

How to wear them:

Know your calves and make sure your boot doesn’t gape too much. It should fit comfortably around your leg. For those of you, like me, who have athletic or curvy legs, go with a boot that is stretchy, slouchy or zippered to get the best look and feeling for your style. This is the easiest style of boot to pull off—tuck skinny jeans in or pull a pair of flared jeans over them. Tights and leggings are also cute and fun for fall.

Over-the-Knee Boots:

To add some edge to your outfit, don a pair of thigh highs. To pull off these boots you need to be the fashionably fearless belle that you are!
Although they look a bit hard to wear, they’re actually incredibly easy to pull off and can add sophistication to an otherwise plain outfit.

How to wear them:

Try convertibles- pairs of over-the-knee boots that can fold down below the knee (or flipped above it). Besides by giving you the choice (which basically gives you two boot types inone, how awesome is that?), convertible boots can make it easier to bed at the knees when you sit or walk since they’re not stiff

Keep the rest of your outfit simple! Don’t overload on the patterns and styles. Otherwise you’ll look too busy and end up losing the sleek, sexy fun look that this style boot gives off by itself. Remember, these boots were made for walking, and looking oh, so fashionable at the same time!
