Be Happy, Feel Beautiful

Tone Up The Muscles, Tone Down The Stress

What if we told you that there was a way for you to get in shape, feel empowered, and kick a little butt all at the same time? You’d probably think we were bluffing, but were being totally honest with you here. With all the stuff that goes on in life, sometimes there just needs to be something that helps you to relax and we have that something right here. We’d like to introduce you to kickboxing.  Not only is it a great way to keep fit, but it also gives you a chance to get out any inner aggressions you might be bottling up, while allowing you to feel good and ultimately look good as well!

The benefits of kickboxing for you are pretty much endless, but let’s start with the most obvious.  A lot of gyms that are hosting kickboxing classes are implementing them in a way that emulates the typical style of boxing you’ve seen on T.V. and movies (J. Lo in Enough anyone?), but with imaginary opponents.  More demanding classes are even incorporating cardio between the different punch-jab-kick combinations to give you an even better and more intense workout. According to LucilleRoberts.com, which is known for their dedication to women and fitness, they explain how physically, kickboxing can help you tone areas of your body like your legs and butt, but also help you to increase stamina, burn a lot of calories, and ultimately get a full body workout which not all classes, let alone workouts, allow you to do.

Kickboxing also helps you mentally. It not only enables you to let out that inner aggression, but can help you de-stress as well.  You’ll be surprised how liberating punching the air can be. If your classes have punching bags the liberation may be a little more obvious. If you want to get even more specific, it can also teach you how to mentally push through obstacles.  Livestrong.com explains that while kickboxing, your body releases endorphins, which can help aid in bettering your mood. Some classes may get to such an intense level, but being among other young women all trying to achieve the same goal can be a really rewarding feeling, which brings us to yet another benefit.

Whether you’ve lived in the same town all your life, switched gyms, or are looking to get to know people at school, kickboxing classes are a great way to make friends. Each time you go you’ll see more and more faces starting to become familiar. Going back to the fact that you’re all trying to achieve the same goal, it will give you a feeling of community and some things to talk about it. Whether it was how difficult class was today or even how cute you think your instructor is!

Another benefit, and an extremely important one, is that it helps teach us as women to be strong–and we mean this in all sense of the word. Not only are you strengthening yourself physically, but it’s also making you a strong, independent woman. The different punches and kicks, and blocking techniques that are taught at most classes can be used as a means of self-defense, should you ever be in the unfortunate position to need it. Knowing that you’re participating in a class that is not only helping you build muscle, but how to use those muscles should someone ever try to hurt you is a pretty remarkable thing don’t you think?
