Be Happy, Feel Beautiful

Runway Beauty: Heavy Metal

It’s no secret: metallics are the new smoky eye. They add an instant, glam factor while still looking completely wearable. Here are some tips on trying them so you can take your evening look from nice and pretty to high-voltage and fabulous.

The Devil’s in the Details: Always line the waterline and the lash line with a thin black (for black, silver, and grey) or colored (in the darkest shade of the one you’re wearing on the lid) liner. This will add contour and shape to your eye, so it looks more dimensional. I swear by tarte emphasEYES aqua-gel eyeliner and Urban Decay 24/7 glide-on eye pencils.

Colors: It’s tempting to stick with blacks and silvers and golds, but instead, try to choose an interesting color. Forest greens, deep beiges, navies, and deep purples are all amazing choices. The color of your eye is the best way to choose the shade you put on your lids. Blue eyes might wear shades of blue, green, or silver, while a brown-eyed girl might wear golds, greens, purples, and beiges. I bought the tarte for True Blood palette and love it more than I can put into words, but Chanel Illusion d’Ombre is also amazing.

Simple lips: As always, keep your lips simple, moisturized and with just a touch of nude lipstick in your favourite neutral. Revlon produces great and affordable shades.

Shining skin: Moisturize your skin with tinted moisturizer, and add foundation or concealer to problem spots. Use highlighter on the angles of your face to create a wet, dewy look. The Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer is my favorite tinted moisturizer, and the YSL Touche Eclat has long been a critic favourite for highlighters.

Effortless Hair: Leave your hair down or pull it back into a voluminous ponytail.

Try this easy makeup look for next time you go out, and you will shine the brightest at any and every event.
