Be Happy, Feel Beautiful
Growing up is an experience to say the least. You constantly make important decisions and maintain responsibilities. You may look back to the good old days and remember how everything seemed much simpler. You know, when boys had cooties, and your biggest problem was what color crayon to use – those days. So, why not act on it? The life of a kid is stress-free and full of playtime. Here are some activities to help you revisit your youth to help make your “now” a little more fun.
Go back to that mindset. Even if it’s only for a few hours a week. Adopt a childlike mentality. Remember how you used to look at things with curiosity and wonder and try to emulate this perspective. According to an article from pickthebrain.com a trick is to expand your senses. Take the time to to appreciate the leaves changing colors or the way your favorite food tastes. It can help you to appreciate the little things and stop stressing all the time.
Now that you’re thinking like a kid again, it’s time to start acting like one. Grab some of your friends and have a good old fashioned slumber party. Rent or order some old movies from when you were a kid – disney movies anyone? It will give you an excuse to hang out with your friends like you did when you were younger. You know you’ve been waiting for a chance to sing Hakuna Matata again, well the sleepover will be your chance to turn back the clock. You will have a chance to comprehend the jokes that you were too young to understand the first time around. The article from pickthebrain.com also mentioned that there’s something about animation that is, “a terrific medium to affirm, enrich, and collect experiences that make you forget about the seriousness of every day life.”
Break out all the games you used to play when you were younger. Dust off all of those games that made up your childhood including: Monopoly, Twister, and Guess Who.They don’t just have to be board games. Truth or dare is always a crowd favorite. Nickelodeon recently followed these ideas. Check out local stores like Target or search on Ebay for your favorite shows and split the cost with your friends. Get all of your girlfriends together, pop in a movie, relax, and enjoy.
You can also try arts and crafts. Even if you never have made any crafts, it’s definitely something fun to try. An idea is to buy little wooden boxes and some paint and make yourself your very own jewelry box. Make it your favorite color, or add some fun jewels or designs. You can even go the extra mile and pick up some string and beads and make jewelry to put in it. Not only will it spark your creativity, but it will give you a chance to make something no one else will have! Remember how much fun it was to color? Whether you’re doing your own free drawings or using coloring books, take this as your chance to live outside the lines, or just color outside them.
Revisit your childhood memories! Giving yourself a chance to let loose and release your inner child every once in a while. It will help not only make you happier, but help relieve some stress as well. Just because you’ve grown up, doesn’t mean you always have to act like one!
