The Hair Chronicles: Ways To Get Out of Your Hair Rut

Wondering why your once-chic go-to hair style just isn’t doing it for you anymore? Don’t worry, it isn’t just you. It happens to everyone at some point. Really, I promise. If so, here are some tips on how to end that toxic relationship.

Chop it all off: Tough love, I know. But sometimes, you have to start fresh with your locks to see just what you want to do with them. Try a sleek bob or a choppy pixie cut for easy styling and drastic change.

Step back: Splurge on a great, Yelp-approved stylist and tell him or her to do whatever he or she wants with your hair. If you have one thing that is non-negotiable for you, let them know, but otherwise tell them to go crazy. I recently did this and am completely in love with my new style. I told the stylist that I wanted to keep as much of the length as possible, so he gave me a cool angle bang with geometric layers. Let go and trust the professionals to do what they do best.

Style it: Pledge to wake up a half hour earlier to curl, wave, or straighten your hair well. If alarms and heating tools aren’t your thing, go to bed in braids or rollers for easy volume and texture with less hassle.

Coloring: Go crazy with your color. Dip dye pieces or change your hue completely. I’m thinking about getting some purple in my hair and a friend of mine is thinking about going platinum. You’re only young once so live it up.
