Instead of opting for a “lazy” day consisting of sweatpants, hair-tied, chilling with no makeup on—yup, we can blame Drake for that trend—remember these few, easy tips that will help you look slimmer and trimmer.
Colours are everything: By pairing the right shades and patterns, it can make or break your slimming outfit. Wearing light coloured tops with dark pants visually cuts your body in half— making you appear shorter and squatter. Try to avoid bright and bold colours where you don’t want attention drawn. Darks such as: black, brown, dark purples and blues can erase inches off your figure. And if you go for a dark monochromatic look from top to bottom, you’ll also be adding a couple of fake inches to your height.
Pants: They are also a major focus point. No matter how popular skinny jeans are, they don’t always make us feel that skinny. But no worries, because boot cut styled jeans are also very popular and flattering on most shapes. An added bonus is their low back pockets, which gives your booty a subtle lift that just screams bootilicious.
Shoes and accessories: These are another important factor in achieving your slimming trick. Make sure that your shoes balance out with the rest of your outfit. High heels will always help your legs appear slimmer than flats ever will. To help accentuate your middle, just remember: belts, belts and more belts. Placing a belt around your midsection where your natural curves dip in, gives you a feminine hour glass shape. Also, pay attention to your natural physique in comparison to your accessories. Avoid tiny purses and thin belts as they only draw attention to your size. Instead, pick a medium sized purse, wide belts, or a necklace with a large pendant or a bigger watch.
Patterns such a stripes: These are great… but not when you wear them wrong. Vertical lines are classy, and great for hiding figure flaws that help you appear taller. So, if you’re looking for a new pair a work pants, go for the pinstriped ones. Steer clear of horizontal stripes, they only make you look wide and stumpy.
Don’t buy clothing in the wrong size: By wearing clothing that’s not your size, it won’t accentuate your body. When you buy clothing that’s too small, it draws unwanted attention. For example, a tight tank top that shows nothing but the fact that you need to hit the gym, pronto. And also, by wearing large clothing, you’re hiding your body like you’re wearing a tarp. So really, why buy the clothes if it isn’t going to do anything for you?
