The importance of setting goals and having a plan of action

Our lives are full of plans. We plan parties, outings, meetings, vacations and most of our daily activities. Take a moment to stop and look at the bigger picture. Think of your life two years from now Have you set goals? Do you have a plan? If you don’t, it’s OK! It is never too late to set a two-year plan that focuses on where you want to be in life. Goals are important because they keep you motivated, and a plan will lead you to the achievement of those goals.

Plan early and it will save you a lot of trouble in the future because you will have a defined endpoint.

Planning and setting goals helps you to…

Live more consciously
How are you supposed to know what you want if you don’t have concrete goals? Set specific goals and give yourself clarity on what you ultimately want to achieve. It helps you sort through the constant thoughts that go through your mind and ensures that you are using your time wisely. Most importantly, it gives every day of your life a purpose.

Be The Best You Can Be
Goals allow you to achieve your highest potential and they keep you motivated. You can’t grow as a person without goals. It does not allow you to be the best you can be. By setting goals, you set targets to strive toward. You will venture into new situations that challenge you to rise to the occasion. They make you stretch beyond your comfort zone and reach new heights. For example, setting a career goal ensures you are not settling for anything less than what you desire.

Live Your Best Life
Goals with specific measures and deadlines ensure that you are maximizing your opportunities and experiences in life. If you have already discovered your life purpose, goals will ensure you take your purpose to the highest level of achievement and satisfaction.

Find your inner drive
Your goals are a representation of your inner hopes and dreams. Goals make you motivated to do everything in your power to achieve your dreams. Goals serve as constant reminders of your main motivation. They are the fuel that drives you forward and keep you going when the going gets tough.

Don’t know where you see yourself in 3 years? When planning your future, keep this checklist in mind:

Analyze your current life situation: Think about the important areas of your life: professional, financial, health, spiritual, emotional and social. Are you where you want to be in each of these areas?

Set some short term goals: Use short-term goals as stepping stones to achieve your long-term ambitions. Start with this year and think of things you would like to accomplish in the next 12 months. Once you have that set, move onto the next year’s goals. By the end of this exercise you will have enough on your schedule to set a life goal.

Visualize your future: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Think about what you want to have accomplished and the experiences you want to have had. Consider, what city you would like to be living in, if you want to be married or even what car you would like to be driving.

How are you going to achieve these goals? How are you going to tackle these to-dos to reach your goals? This is the time to make a plan of action, and make some changes in your life that will put you on the right track.

Achieve your goals: You have everything you need. You know where you are, where you’re are going and how to get there. Review your plans for the future on a weekly basis to ensure that you don’t lose sight of your dreams.

It’s easy to lose sight of where you’re going when there are so many roads to take in life. You will be able to achieve anything you want if you listen to your intuition and map out your goals. Start planning, Belles!
