Give Yourself a Get Away

With the holiday seasons approaching quickly, you may have started to wonder what you and your friends are going to give each other for the holidays. Why not give yourselves something you can all enjoy? Talk to your friends and plan a getaway. It doesn’t have to be something as elaborate as a trip across the country; it can be something as simple as renting out a room in a hotel in town. Giving yourself a little distance and treating yourself to some time away can be the perfect way to rewind.

Vacations, whether they are near or far, are necessary. The amount of benefits they can have on your mind, body and spirit are endless. A change of scenery forces you to be creative and switch things up. According to an article from titled, “The Importance of Vacations for Stress Relief, Productivity and Health” taking some “vacation time” can lower stress levels, better your work ethic and improve your personal relationships. With the craziness of our lives, it’s important to take some time and get away. This article stated how research has shown that even when people are getting away, they are taking their work with them. This defeats the purpose. Vacations are supposed to be a time for relaxation, so unplug and let yourself unwind.

A getaway also gives you a chance to be creative and try new activities. If you aren’t traveling far, you can still find ways to make that happen. Even if you are just going to a nearby town you can still look up restaurants ahead of time and try a different styles of food that you’ve never had. Find ways to switch it up. These getaways don’t have to be elaborate. Something as simple as finding a local spa and treating yourself to a day of pampering would work. It would give you the chance to not only relax, but catch up, and feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

Another simple mini getaway is to get take out from one of your favorite restaurants and set up a picnic. Whether you’re lounging on sand, or on the grass at a park in town, getting away from the daily grind is extremely important.

If you’re feeling adventurous and want to take this idea to the next level then try taking a road trip.  If the place you go has a hiking trail, take advantage of the activity. If it has a beach, lie down and soak up the sun. If it has a museum, go learn something new. Wherever you choose to go, take the time to enjoy it and try new things. Not only will it bring you lasting memories with you and your friends, but when you return back to your daily routine you will feel like a new person. Taking the time to put a little distance (however much it may be) between your “me” time what you do every day, can help you lead a life of bliss!
