Blissful Belle

Be Happy, Feel Beautiful

Nailing Time For You

Christmas time is almost here yet again, Belles. And with it, comes fun holiday festivities! Parties, gift giving (and receiving!), family and friend time, and of course, pictures to document everything! Taking the time to do your nails is great not only for having some colour, but also for some quality down time like bonding with a sister or friend. Take some time and try out one (or all) of these Christmas themed nails!

White Christmas

Why wait for the snow to come? Enjoy the winter weather without getting cold by trying this fun French spinoff?

Nail Polish: Base Coat, White, Silver with glitter, Top Coat.

Start off with your base coat and allow to dry, then apply your white. Once that dries apply your silver, start off like you would with your basic French but before it has time to dry, lightly pull the colour up slightly back towards your cuticles. Make sure you don’t apply too much of the silver or you’ll end up with a pure silver nail. And don’t freak out if the amount of silver varies from nail to nail! And if you want you can buy festive nail decals and apply a snowflake or two to your nails to finish off the snowy look. Once everything is dry apply your top coat!

Glitzy Wreath

For a simply twist try this basic French with some nail gems.

Nail Polish: Base Coat, White, Top Coat

Nail Art: Silver, Green and Red nail gems. (I used some nail glue that we had at home to apply them)

Tools: Tweezers and toothpick

Apply a French manicure as usual and allow it to dry.  Then on your index, middle and pinky fingers apply your silver gems following the edge of your French tip. You’ll use your tweezers to set the gem down and you may need to use the toothpick to push it so that it sticks where you want it too. Then, apply the green and red gems along the tip of your thumb and ring finger, the pattern for that will be about 3-4 greens (depending on how big your nail is) one red, then one or two greens again. This will be one line. Then place two more red gems beneath the one in the line for the “berry” effect. Apply about 2-3 layers of top coat to help keep the gems on.

Holly and Mistletoe

And for something simple but festive, try this.

Nail Polish: Base Coat, Red (the brighter it is the more festive it’ll look) and Clear with glitter or Red and Green glittered (you should be able to find this since it’s close to Christmas).

Apply your base coat, then apply the red and allow it to dry. Face your nails away from you when you go to apply the glitter coat and do not put a lot of the polish on the brush. In short strokes bring the polish towards you while the nail is still facing away. Pull it up as you come closer, this will give you a “feathered” look. Apply a second coat if you want more sparkle or to add another glitter based colour. Once dry apply your top coat.

Trying out different nail techniques can be fun and great for some “girl time” amongst the hustle and bustle of your Christmas season. Don’t be afraid to try nail decals and art, sometimes they can take an ordinary nail job to a stunning work of art. Enjoy Belles!
