Be Happy, Feel Beautiful
Iconic singers Beyoncé and Jay-Z gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Blue Ivy on January 8, 2012. The couple is extremely reserved when it comes to their private life, waiting until yesterday to reveal pictures of the newborn. Beyoncé was the one who shared the first photos of Blue Ivy, deciding not to sell them to the numerous hopefuls willing to buy one.
Many were shocked when Beyoncé unexpectedly revealed her pregnancy at MTV’s VMAs last August, causing lots of anticipation for these superstars’ child. However, as weeks pass, it doesn’t seem as if the attention surrounding this family will be dying down anytime soon. The couple has filed an application to trademark Blue Ivy’s name, preventing anyone from using it. The Washington Post said the application is currently pending, but this attempt at protecting the little girl should be approved.
So what does the unique name Blue Ivy stand for? There has been a great deal of speculation surrounding the significance of the two names. Jay-Z’s albums are called “Blueprint”, causing some to believe the name Blue was chosen as homage to her father. Ivy is supposed to stand for the number 4 in roman numerals, or “IV.” What is so significant about the number four? The couple celebrates the number because both were born and married on the 4th day of the month.
It isn’t hard to believe that at only five weeks, this little bundle of joy already has the media begging for more!
