Be Happy, Feel Beautiful
The spring season brings warm weather, beautiful flowers, and… dreaded allergies! Ugh! The 2011 spring season caused tons of runny noses for allergy sufferers, and this season seems to be headed in the same direction. This allergy season started earlier than expected, and it may even last longer then usual. But you don’t have to suffer locked indoors to avoid the pollen. Solutions exist!
Scratchy throats, runny noses, and watery eyes can be a lot to handle some days, especially when the pollen counts are high. So how do you know if it is the common cold or allergies you are suffering from? Well, allergies will last a whole lot longer. Yes, that sounds miserable, but there are ways to alleviate the terrible symptoms. Sometimes you can keep it simple, like with a Neti pot or a nasal spray. Although they may only offer a temporary solution, they can alleviate the discomfort. If a temporary solution is just not good enough, consult with a physician about what allergy medicine would work best for you. There are so many allergy medicines lining pharmacy shelves that you want to make sure you won’t waste money trying every single one! Ask for help to find the best solution.
Natural remedies exist for allergies as well. Even if you are skeptical about a homemade recipe, give it a try. The worst that can happen is you wake up with the same runny nose. Peppermint tea is one great alternative, serving as a decongestant, or a spoonful of honey for soothing the throat. Several herbs can calm the discomfort so don’t be afraid to try something new.
Louisville. Knoxville. Oklahoma City. Memphis. If you live in any of these places, we have some bad news for you! These cities and several others have been registered as having the worst allergy season this year, so if you are one of the million suffering, take precautionary measures. Watch the pollen count and try to stay indoors during the highest hours, or avoid freshly cut grass that can also contribute to heightening your allergies. Let the grass grow out a little this spring.
Don’t let allergies put a damper on your week. Grab some tissues or eye drops and hang in there!
