Adele, Jessie J, and One direction, what do all of these successful artists have in common? Well, besides being completely adored here in the states they’re all British! It seems our friends from across the pond have had quite an affect on American women and men. But there is more to them than just their accents. Here is a look into the stories of 2012’s hottest music stars and how they are making their mark on the U.S

If you haven’t heard of Adele, where have you been? This British beauty with one of the strongest female voices on the radio right now has been ruling the award shows. Scoring more than 50 music nominations Adele has built up quite a reputation in the states by winning some of the most prestigious awards including 3 American Music Awards, and 8 Grammy’s since her debut of “Chasing pavements” in 2008. Adele, who seems to have a thing for naming her albums after the age she was when she wrote them is currently releasing singles off of her latest album 21. These songs include Rumor has it, Rolling in the deep, and someone like you. She released this album in February in the US. The inspiration from this album came from a recent break up with her boyfriends. The album’s sound is described as classic and contemporary, But she has a broad audience of fans at every show that adore her for her meaningful sings, Adele suffered a minor bump in the rode when she was diagnosed with a vocal hemorrhage with the results being that she may never be able to sing again. She made her grand return at the 2012 Grammy’s with a breath taking performance. She plans to pick up her tour right where it left off some time in the next year and without a doubt will continue to make Americans fall in love with her voice.

Jessie J is not exactly known for laying low. With her funky style and upbeat songs she has made quite an impact on the music scene. But even before we knew her as Jessie J she was busy writing songs for some other famous artists. Maybe you’ve heard of them? Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus and Rihanna were among the group of singers that worked with Jessie J on their albums. Shortly after the success of her album who you are in American she was chosen to tour as the opening act for Katy Perry 2011 but after she was unable to fully recover from her injuries during rehearsals she was forced to pull out under the doctor’s orders. But Jessie J didn’t just stay put during her recovery. She served as the house artist at the 2011 VMA;’s, performing several of her original songs along with covers around commercial break. Jessie is about to take off on her first tour that will be including North America the heart beat tour. With upbeat songs like Domino and price tag, America is highly anticipating the arrival of Jessie J in an arena near you.

The Beatles, The Back street boys, The Jonas brothers and now, One Direction. Living proof that boy bands are not dead. This adorable boy band from the Uk consistts of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. After their third place win on the X-factor they signed with Simon Cowell for a short period of time. They later signed in North America to Columbia Records. Their Summer 2012 UP All Night tour sold out in less than 24 hours. Still not impressed? They have already announced a 2013 Summer tour which is quickly in the road to selling out. You can also catch them on TV! They were recently guests on Saturday night live with host Sofia Vergara and have appeared in shows such as iCarly. They have also won the love and affection of millions of teenage girls, which we all know are the most loyal fans. Watch out, Jonas Brother. There’s a new group in town.

Whether, it’s there funky style, their song writing skills or their accents the British are certainly taking America.
